Dorian Cheah (The Dorian Electric) is an electric violinist, composer and Emmy-nominated songwriter. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, where his studies in classical music began, he moved to New York to study under Dorothy DeLay at The Juilliard School. His music is a genre-fluid experience combining his classical roots with a passion for the visceral power of rock and roll and modern electronic elements.

His forthcoming solo album, 717, co-produced with Bill Laswell, is slated for release on Laswell’s MOD Reloaded label in July 2021. A previous solo album, ARA, also produced by Laswell, features collaborations with Bernie Worrell, Zakir Hussain, Karsh Kale and others. Dorian has appeared on recordings with mainstream pop artists Celine Dion, Brandy and has co-written songs with Kesha and many others. His songs have been featured in dozens of major network television shows including CSI, Ghost Whisperer, Zoey 101, Drake & Josh, Tosh.0, and many others.

Dorian lives in Santa Monica, CA and has two kids who are a lot cooler than he is but he taught them to make homemade pizza which they enjoy regularly. They are currently halfway through season 3 of The Great British Baking Show.
